The first Sandhopper cassette.

This was the only time Sandhopper recorded in a 'proper' studio. We spent a day at Studio One in Birmingham in early 1994, paying £120

The tape was clearer than the rough demo we'd previously made, but there was a brittleness to it that I didn't like. I've gone back now, boosted the bass, added some compression, and removed some hiss. It sounds as good as it can.

The music displays my obsessions with Hüsker Dü, Lemonheads, and Dinosaur Jnr. The last track, 'Hanging Around', marked the first of what became a recurring theme for me - an epic final track with a length guitar blow out (see also 'Cowering' on 'Beware the Plastic Eye...', 'Colder' on 'White Noise....' by Kosmische, and 'Sons and Daughters' by my current band, Rainbow Skull)

I've also relaid-out the cover to better suit the square LP shape
